Chapter 3, Verses 193-195
رَبَّنَاۤ اِنَّکَ مَنۡ تُدۡخِلِ النَّارَ فَقَدۡ اَخۡزَیۡتَہٗ ؕ وَمَا لِلظّٰلِمِیۡنَ مِنۡ اَنۡصَارٍ ﴿۱۹۳﴾
رَبَّنَاۤ اِنَّنَا سَمِعۡنَا مُنَادِیًا یُّنَادِیۡ لِلۡاِیۡمَانِ اَنۡ اٰمِنُوۡا بِرَبِّکُمۡ فَاٰمَنَّا ٭ۖ رَبَّنَا فَاغۡفِرۡ لَنَا ذُنُوۡبَنَا وَکَفِّرۡ عَنَّا سَیِّاٰتِنَا وَتَوَفَّنَا مَعَ الۡاَبۡرَارِ ﴿۱۹۴﴾ۚ
رَبَّنَا وَاٰتِنَا مَا وَعَدۡتَّنَا عَلٰی رُسُلِکَ وَلَا تُخۡزِنَا یَوۡمَ الۡقِیٰمَۃِ ؕ اِنَّکَ لَا تُخۡلِفُ الۡمِیۡعَادَ ﴿۱۹۵﴾
English Translation
“Our Lord, whomsoever Thou causest to enter the Fire, him hast Thou surely disgraced. And the wrongdoers shall have no helpers.
“Our Lord, we have heard a Crier calling us unto faith, ‘Believe ye in your Lord,’ and we have believed. Our Lord, forgive us, therefore, our errors and remove from us our evils, and in death number us with the righteous.
“Our Lord, give us what Thou hast promised to us through Thy Messengers; and disgrace us not on the Day of Resurrection. Surely, Thou breakest not Thy promise.”
‘Our Lord, we have heard a Crier calling us unto faith, saying, ‘Believe ye in your Lord,’ and we have believed. Our Lord, forgive us, therefore, our sins[548] and remit from us our evils and in death join us with the righteous;
Dhunub, which generally refers to natural human weaknesses and ordinary mistakes and omissions, may represent those dark recesses of the heart where the heavenly light does not properly reach; while Sayyi’at, which is a comparatively stronger word, may mean the clouds of dust which hide the light of the sun from our view.
