KCL SOUTH OUTDOOR 2025 – MATCH 18 REPORT

Trustworthy Knights v Merciful Conquerors

Two performing sides went toe to toe for a big clash at Cheam CC. The Knights were unbeaten so far this year, but they were going to be tested today against a strong Conquerors side.  Winning the toss, the Knights opted to bat first.

They were in big trouble straight away, as the top 3 batters were all back in the hut for 0 with Fareed (3-22) too hot to handle claiming all 3! Form man Waseem Ahmed camped in again with Ali Raza supporting him, and the two put up a decent 45 run partnership. Hameed broke the partnership and from then on Waseem was looking for partners to accompany him at the crease, and no one besides Ajaz were up for the fight as the MC bowlers removed the lower order without much damage. Waseem finished with 60 off 48 as the Knights limped to 126-9 as their final total.

Safwan had been threatening to cut loose throughout this season, and today was a day were he wanted to set the tournament alight in the heatwave! Although it was Farhan who first lead the charge with some aggressive stroke play, Safwan quickly took centre stage as he unleashed his ballistics with a 17 ball 50*! Farhan remained not out with a 18 ball 38* which is impressive in its own right, whilst Safwan carried on with the punishment and raced to 89* off 29 balls to finish the game. This included 10 fours and 7 sixes, and a few forgettable overs for the TK bowlers.

The knights were served their first defeat, and a brutal awakening as the MC reached the total of 130 in 47 balls without losing a wicket! Today we also witnessed a teaser for how devastating and brilliant a side like MC can be on their day, with excellent bowlers and nuclear batsmen! A heavy dent to the nrr means the MC take over from the TK at the top spot too.
