MKA Edinburgh and Fife brush up Dunfermline on New Year’s Day

While much of the city was still easing into the first morning of the year after a late Hogmanay, Khuddam from Edinburgh and Fife were already out in service — clearing litter and tidying the area surrounding the James Allan Centre.
For more than a decade, Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya Scotland has been active across Fife, championing equality, interfaith harmony, and community service. Their long-standing commitment to helping local communities continues to shape their work in the region.

Reflecting on the spirit of the day, Jameel Khan, Qaid for Edinburgh and Fife and Fife, shared:
“The New Year is an opportunity to reflect on our responsibilities towards others. Through simple acts such as feeding those in need and reaching out to our neighbours, we aim to demonstrate the values of compassion, service, and social responsibility that our faith teaches.”
When applying for use of the James Allan Centre, the group highlighted their dedication to “community service and volunteer-led clean-up initiatives.” Securing the centre is expected to provide them with a stable base from which to continue supporting residents and expanding their outreach.
Cllr Gordon Pryde praised their efforts, saying:
“Thanks have to go to the members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Edinburgh & Fife who were out doing a litter pick around the James Allan Centre on New Year’s morning. They have a worldwide commitment to doing community activity following their prayers every New Year morning. It was terrific that the local members did this work around the park on Paton Street.”
