KCL 2022 Final Highlights: Mighty Strikers defeat Trustworthy Knights by 5 wickets.

Mighty Strikers were crowned the Khuddam Cricket League champions on Sunday after they beat Trustworthy Knights by 5 wickets in the Final in Alexandra Recreation Ground, Surbiton. Opting to bat first, Knights never got going and made a below-par score of 138-10 with Waseem Ahmad topscoring for them with a rather subdued 55. Yasir Mumtaz’s bowling figures of 4-21 and captain Shakir Ahmad (1-12) led by example with the ball.

Harawal Wassam and Khurram Goraya shined with the bat, scoring 25 and Goraya 57*, and with Irfan Ahmad helping Strikers overcome a slow start to their chase. From the middle order, Khurram Goraya remained unbeaten on 57*, sealing the victory for the Strikers with a 6 and 11 balls to spare.

A Brief of the Finale;

It was quite a one-sided Final in the end!

Strikers probably wanted it a lot more than Knights as they were just not at their best. They were well below par with the bat as they losed early wickets, and ended up with only 138. Yes, the likes of Yasir and Shakir bowled brilliantly but the batting and the shot selection was also not of the highest quality.

In the second half, Knights needed early wickets, they did have a chance in the very first few overs but they dropped Goraya. They did manage to get a couple of wickets but that drop of Goraya cost them dearly. A couple of partnerships is all that Strikers needed and they got that. First it was Harawal and Goraya and then Irfan along with Goraya.

Goraya was the main man on the crease for Strikers in their run chase and the rest of them played around him.
