MAA Cheam South Quests | Natural History Museum Educational Trip

By the grace of Allah Almighty, Majlis Atfal-ul-Ahmadiyya Cheam South embarked on its first Quest of the year, an educational and spiritual visit to the Natural History Museum in London. The trip was organised with the intention of promoting Talim (knowledge), reflection upon the magnificent creation of Allah, and strengthening the bond of brotherhood between Atfal and Khuddam.

Journey & Organisation:

The day commenced early with a light breakfast of hot croissants, pain au chocolat, and fresh fruit juices, energising the group for the journey ahead. The trip formally began with Dua, led by the Local Sadr Sahib, Respected Chaudhary Waseem Sahib, invoking Allah’s blessings and protection for a successful day.

To instill pride and identity, each Atfal was gifted a Liwā-e-Khuddām shoulder flag, worn throughout the trip. For supervision and care, every Atfal was assigned to an individual Khuddam, who remained responsible for their well-being at all times.

The group departed at 9:45 am, travelling by bus and underground, arriving at South Kensington Station before making their way to the museum.

Museum Exploration & Quest Activities:

The group arrived at the Natural History Museum at 10:45 am, greeted by its breathtaking and historic architecture. The Quest began with high spirits, the Atfal particularly excited to witness the world-famous T-Rex exhibit.

Across multiple galleries, Atfal explored the diversity of Allah’s creation; from ancient fossils to marine life, ecosystems, and the wonders of the natural world, providing both scientific insight and spiritual reflection.

Prayer, Learning & Reflection:

A break was held at 1:45 pm to offer Zuhr and Asr prayers, followed by refreshments, ensuring the day remained spiritually grounded alongside educational engagement.

At 2:30 pm, the Atfal entered the Earth Galleries, learning about:

● The history and formation of the Earth

● The science behind volcanoes and earthquakes

● The global impact of natural disasters

A highlight of the day was the earthquake simulator, recreating the 1995 Kobe (Japan) earthquake of magnitude 6.9, helping Atfal understand the realities faced during such events and deepening their appreciation for Allah’s protection.

Lunch & Tarbiyyat Session:

After further exploration, including the museum gift shop, the group proceeded to central London for a well-deserved lunch of burgers and chips.

Following lunch, a short Talim and Tarbiyyat session was held, centred on the annual theme:

“Our Paradise Lies With Our God.”

During this session, the Atfal reflected upon:

● The significance of studying Allah’s creation

● How observation of nature strengthens Zikr-e-Ilahi (remembrance of Allah)

● The role of prayer and daily conduct in attaining success in both this world and the Hereafter

The group returned to Baitul Futuh by 4:15 pm, where Maghrib prayer was offered in congregation. The Atfal expressed immense joy and enthusiasm, already engaging in conversations about future Quests and activities.
