Southall at Middlesex Regional Ijtema 2023
On the 14th of May 2023 Southall had the honourable position of hosting the Regional Ijtema for this year. The intention for this organisation was to allow those khuddam and atfal brothers who have not yet had the pleasure of visiting our newly built and inaugarated mosque Darus Salam. The event was split accross both the local mosque and Villiers High School to accomodate the needs of the Ijtema in terms of both sports, academic and other competitions.
The day started of early with registration at 9am, followed by a hearty breakfast and then the opening session which began at 10am. This set the intentions straight for the Ijtema and outlined the itinerary for the day. Followed by this many Khuddams were eager to get started in the academics competitions which began with team quiz followed by Tialwat, Nazm, Speech and Extempore Speech competition which all had great participation by the grace of Allah.
Following this many had built up an appetite, so after offering Zuhr and Asr prayers lunch was served, which acted to fuel all who were excited to play sports. There were a wide array of choices ranging from badminton, cricket, football, basketball, badminton and dodgeball which all again had great participation.
After this it was time for the prize distribution ceremony and closing session in which Southall proudly won some awards, and with that the day came to an end.
Alhamdolillah, for the second year running, Southall Khuddam have won best Qiadat award in Middlesex Region. Inshallah we keep our brotherhood and momentum increasing and only get better. Khuddam also had the 3rd best attendance in the region.
By the grace of Allah, Southall Atfal have won best Qiadat award for the second year in a row.
All in all it served as a great opportunity to strengthen both our faith and brotherhood and reinforce the beautiful recurring message of the Ijtema which was “Salaat: The delight of our eyes”
