MFL Finals 2024: Hounslow North Claim Back-to-Back Titles

The MKA Middlesex Football League Finals 2024 was an action-packed day that celebrated unity and football. The event began with the semi-finals and the 5th place match, setting the tone for an intense and memorable day.

The match for 5th place saw Greenford take on Southall in a highly anticipated clash. Despite both matches between the two teams in the regular season ending in 3-3 draws, Greenford dominated this time, securing a commanding 5-0 victory. The semi-finals followed a similar pattern, with Hayes defeating Slough 5-0 and reigning champions Hounslow North overcoming their derby rivals Hounslow South by the same scoreline.

Next came the 3rd place match and the final. The 3rd place match was a thrilling encounter as Slough came from 2-0 down to secure a remarkable comeback victory against Hounslow South, showcasing determination and resilience. The final, however, was the highlight of the day as Hayes and Hounslow North met for the third consecutive year in the championship match. Hayes struck first, taking a 1-0 lead, but Hounslow North equalised with a penalty. With nothing to separate the two teams after regular and extra time, the match was decided by penalties. After a tense shootout, which reached 7-7, Hayes missed their 8th penalty, allowing Hounslow North to retain their title for the second year in a row.

The event concluded with a closing session and dinner, which brought everyone together in a spirit of brotherhood. Zuhr and Asr prayers were followed by the prize ceremony, led by Naib Mohtamim Kashif Sahib. The ceremony celebrated the teams’ efforts and the unique legacy of the MKA Middlesex Football League, now in its third year.
