KCL SOUTH 2025 – MATCH 2 REPORT
Merciful Conquerors v Radiant Stars
The heat was on once again with the weather still glorious, and another cracking fixture between the Conquerors and Stars kickstarting their campaign for the 2025 KCL season at Alexandra Park. The new look Stars looking to make amends for a forgetful campaign in the previous season won the toss and elected to bat first.
The top 3 batters from the Stars all got steady starts yet none could kick on, as the Conquerer’s bowlers were miserly in their spells sticking close to their plans. With the score at 43-3 in 39 balls, left arm talisman Fareed Ahmed was too good with his consistency and bowled a brilliant spell of 3-14 in his 20 deliveries. He was supported well by Usman who also wasn’t giving much away with figures of 2-21 in his quota of overs. A match defining moment was the run out Daud Ahmed who was looking to deal only in sixes, yet Farukh who has been impressing of late with the bat showed some resistance for the Stars scoring a respectable 35 off 30 balls to enable his side to play out the overs and produce a total of 124 for his side.
The total was most likely not going to be challenging enough for the conquerors who possess some serious batting firepower, however some heavy pressure early on saw the MC struggling with the score at 21-3 with Muneeb and Salman making the early in roads with the new ball. Safwan watched the carnage unfold at the other end, before unleashing his own to take the pressure off his side by blasting an excellent 68 off 47 balls which included four boundaries and 7 sixes! The support provided by captain Faizan (22*) enabled the MC to ease to the finish line in 96 balls at the loss of 5 wickets. A low scoring game made interesting, but eventually a good win for the Merciful Conquerors who register 2 points on the table.
