POST-MARRIAGE COUNSELLING

A New Programme by the MKA UK Rishta Nata Department

Marriage is a journey. Do not walk it alone.

Six months after marriage, every newly married Khadim will be offered the opportunity to sit down informally with an experienced, pre-vetted senior for a confidential conversation over coffee.

A chance to talk openly, seek advice and discuss the realities of married life — from finances and family relationships to communication, children, spiritual growth and the challenges that can arise in the early years of marriage.

The purpose is simple: to support a Khadim’s  journey when it comes to marriage.

This service is designed for newly married Khuddam, particularly within the first 3–6 months of marriage. However, it is open to any Khadim who feels he would benefit from this.

Firstly, you need to register using the link above. Then we will reach out to you and inform you who your counsellor is and give you their contact details. We will facilitate contact with your counsellor to ensure a date and time for a meeting has been arranged that you are happy with.

The friendly talk will then take place at a place that’s convenient to you.

Sessions are informal, confidential conversations in a relaxed setting (e.g., over a chair or coffee). Discussions may cover areas such as communication, expectations, conflict resolution, family dynamics, and overall wellbeing. The aim is to provide practical support that can be applied within the marriage.

No. This is a support initiative led by experienced, senior and understanding members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. While our counsellors are given training in on how to deliver this particular service, this service is not a substitute for professional counselling. If needed, individuals may be guided towards appropriate professional support.

Owing to the nature of the programme that has been designed, this programme will only be in-person. In the unlikely event that there is no counsellor near you, we will authorise a virtual discussion, but this decision will be made centrally by the national team.

Yes. Confidentiality is a core principle of this service. Conversations will not be shared. However, in rare situations where there may be a safeguarding concern we will have a duty to report it. For more information please see our safeguarding and privacy policy.

You can sign-up directly yourself through a simple online form using the link above.

You will be matched with a trusted and experienced elder Khadim or male member of the Ahmadiyya Community who has been specifically selected to deliver this.

After the first session, you are free to stay in touch with the counsellor and continue taking support. There is no limit to how many sessions can be requested, but this will be based on availability.
