Tree Planting 2019

Epsom, UK January 31, 2019 8:00 to January 31, 2019 17:00

Alhamdulillah over the weekend, over 200 Khuddam and Atfal from across England came together for a tree planting session organised jointly by the Woodland Trust and the National Khidmat-e-Khalq department.

On a day which saw very cold temperatures even children as young as 8 came out to help plant an amazing 10,000 trees in a single day, mashAllah, in Langley Vale Wood in Epsom.

On arriving in groups by shuttle the participants would first be given some warm hats, equipment, hot tea and biscuits from our stall and a 20 minute crash course in planting trees by experts from the Trust. Then it was off to the fields – somewhat reminding us of how many of our forefathers would have toiled hard in the fields and being grateful for the relative comfort we have here. In teams of 2-4, holes got dug, young delicate saplings were gently placed and the Atfal and Khuddam met and had a lot of fun with the many members of the local community who had come.

Chris Grayling – MP for Epsom and Secretary of State for Transport – also came and planted trees and encouraged others who were present to continue in their efforts both on the day and in future. Together with Abdul Lodhi, Mohtamim Khidmat-e-Khalq, they had a discussion about what could be done to make further progress in planting trees and environmental conservation.

Do take a look at the highlights – which has some wonderful drone views over Epsom – and the image album here.

Finally, a special mention to Baitul Ehsan, Islamabad, Muqami and Tahir regions for all their efforts in encouraging and bringing a large number of Khuddam.
